Initiated by Spiro, the first challenge between Southern Cross Club and SCBB was held at SCBB on
While most players departed at 8am from Woden, the keener players (with their supporters) went the night
before to practice on the foreign tables – and boy did that prove worthwhile on the super slow tables.
The fixtures cued off at 10.30am and after some tough and very entertaining encounters SX overwhelmed
SCBB by some 31 to 19.
Richard Sliwinski’s gamble to go a several days ahead of schedule to practice (fishing) in the beautiful bay
proved to be something that we should learn from as he racked up 5 wins from 5 matches.
Showing superb form, he rattled in ball after ball to be the only undefeated player on the day.

The day ended with a masterclass of trickshots by Danny Phungbun.
SCBB were wonderful hosts and provided drinks and lunch for the players who were really appreciative of
The day proved to be a wonderful and entertaining for everyone (including partners who went shopping).
What was initially thought to be a one-off challenge has now been agreed to be an annual challenge
between the two sides.
SCBB put up a huge trophy for the winners and the trophy will now be played for annually.
